interesting course. the death spiral was a new "twist". Got a good starting position which had me in pretty good position after the first lap but my lack of conditioning was evident as I gradually was passed by half the 3/4/masters field. Still, for not training, I'm pleased with the results. This is the first race I can recall where ultimate fighting was part of the required skill set. Just a couple of laps into the race I heard Grisvard and some other guy yelling at each other about getting cut off in the corners. Next thing I know, Grisvard is throwing his bike down and going after the guy. Naturally, I hit the accelerator and got the hell out of there. I'm no kickboxer.

Wow, there is a 15 minute difference between a 45 minute race and a 60 minute race. Just if you were wondering.

It was so nice racing close to home and you could not have asked for a better day. I got to watch my sister Dr. Tina Walker crush the womens Cat. 3-4 race and she cheered me on in the Cat.3 Masters 45+ race. I really liked the course and esp. the "Death Spiral" - Big chain ring fast! The first two laps somebody crashed out the up hill barrier, which as nice not having to get off the bike and run up the hill, but who ever put it back set it in the higher possition, so bunny hopping it was out of the question for me. Good race over all, originally I was scored 8th, but got moved to 9th - oh well I had fun. Tony raced very well in the A race and Katie got her first Cross win! Well done you two! We are off to the USGP at Louisville next weekend, another long drive to get to the new Cyclocross Park that the World Cyclocross Championships will be held at in 2013, plus the Masters World's in 2012 and 2013.

Second Cap City race, second epic battle with Kyle and Bruce. I was holding with them for 50 minutes and the last lap proved a bit much on the single speed. They took off and I couldn't keep with them. Awesome course in Dublin. A few pretty intense up hills, but mostly flat, fast and twisty. Thanks to Dublin for being so supportive.

Very happy to have a successful first event. We hope to make this quite a bit bigger next year. Thanks to everyone for coming out. We scheduled the best weather of the season. Thanks to the work of the Dublin City Council Bike Advisory Task Force for their work leading to this event and for attending and racing. Mark your calendar next year... Third weekend in October for the first two-day Cap City/Ohio Cycling event!
