Pretty tough course. Worked off the front the whole race. Me and Pete put in several attacks, but nothing would stick. They shortened the course to 4.6 mile loops 7 times, with a nasty little climb on each lap. Wasn't conducive to my riding style. It was either up or down with tight corners with a little gravel, a little horse manure, and some rough sections. Randy Brown put in an attack on the last steep climb. then a second dig at the top, that no one took serious. He was getting a nice gap, while we conserving for the sprint. I said guys if we don't chase him down now its going to stick. So we took a couple rotations, and reeled him in half mile before the line. Thought I was sitting pretty, but sprint went early with a lead out from the inside. I was on the outside caught me by surprise . I passed a couple people on the long up hill sprint for 3rd, but couldn't close the young studs. It was a fun, and challenging race. In which I would do again. |

fun race with one steep but short hill each lap however wish the race was a little longer. Rich did most of the work at the front and I tried attacking a few times but was unable to make anything stick. As I don't have a sprint or a wind up had to settle for 4th. |

Today was a great day. It looked like it might rain but it did not. The course did have some pretty big hills. So the winner of the Malabar race was there Mich. So we started out with about 20 riders after the first big hill I think we lost 5 riders. We were all going pretty fast, i was staying with the lead pack. So at lap 3 a junior started a breakaway but no one followed and he was left out to dry for about a mile until he was reeled back in. At this point we were down to 6 riders in the lead pack. At the end of the fourth lap there was another breakaway. A single rider went off the front and Mich went after it so i went for it too. I caught up to Mich on the back and we caught the leader. We got to the last big hill and we were all together. Right at the top I lost those two and had a pretty good gap on the next group. A single junior was able to bridge up to me right at the last second so I ended up coming in 4th. Not too bad of a race. |
