I did not plan on attending the Downtown Bloomington Crit until at 2 pm the day of I decided I really didn’t want to go out and train, but that a race would be much less emotionally draining.
I blacked out, and when I came to I was in the car, headed west, with directions to Bloomington on the seat next to me, a bike in the back, and with just enough time to get there if I drove way too fast.
Great course, good field (70ish I think), and a decent beer fueled crowd which I tried to get hyped up on the first lap.
I clipped a speedplay pedal at one point and I almost had a heart attack. I stayed with Mike Kehrberg after the race, who lives in an apartment on top of a Manor where there are weddings every weekend, go watch the movie Wedding Crashers and you might get a good idea how my night started, ask me for details in person.
