so markie comes over on friday night and he wants to party but we fall asleep in my living room at 1100, we get up at 900 am and while i make coffee he tunes up my cyclocross bike so that i can race on it, and assists me in all those pre racing rituals that are forgotten by me(or never learned) after 3 months of not racing. we pick up that lovable tim swain and watch him tumble as he runs towards our vehicle. we dress, we register, we warm up and then we line up. i feel a wee nervous about crashing so take it slow around the corners and watch the leaders ride away. i dont crash, the heat is uncomfortable, i contemplate stopping, but continue in a vain attempt to catch mark...this is the 2nd and last time mark defeats me in a cross race.
