A 10.8 mile out and back on a bike path as part of GearFest. Finished with a 24.5 avg and 8th fastest time among all riders.
Overall the conditions were sketchy. There were several obstacles on the course, between geese crossing, rough pavement sections and the wet conditions it made it difficult to get up to race speed and maintain it for very long. My avg heart rate was almost 40 beats lower than a typical TT, due to slowing down every 2-3 minutes.
To add to the fun, with the rain and grey skies, there were times when the bike path merged with these large sections of concrete pavilions along the river. Everything blended together and it was difficult to determine where the path went. I fish tailed thru two of the sharper turns and by the 7 mile mark I was drenched, cold, and had a "just get this over with" attitude.
Under drier and brighter conditions, this would have been a very fast course.
