Mud, mud and more mud with a lot of beer flying everywhere. Glad I missed the Orange Faygo flying around the Start-Finish line straight. I had one of my better starts in the soft conditions. I can't remember where I had to run so much because of the swamp of mud in the woods section, a long the road that I had to run once and the hairpin peanut butter turn before the front start-finish bog. My bike exchange with a lap and a half helped a lot to lighten the mud load. J.d. and I had another great battle going in to the final lap. Once he got by me and pulled away in the running super muddy sections I never thought I would see him again. I was able to catch him in the last wooded single track section and power passed with a long sustained effort before we road into the open field, last barriers and through the finish line for 6st. Hard, muddy and good day of racing. Thanks J.d. for making me work hard the whole afternoon. It made the race worth doing! |
