Kind of a chincy win. I decided to race masters and only 20K as I was unsure about the weather and my preparation.

I'm about ready to curse those short crank arms on the TT bike. I don't see any improvement and I have trouble maintaining my cadence. Maybe I need to go back to the 175's and regain my torque that I need to push back when the wind gets abusive. If you have ever tried to walk through shin deep mud, that's what it feels like.

After the turnaround I was expecing to get a decent tail wind, but there was no discernable benefit. I struggled home trying to maintain my cadence and grabbing a bigger gear when the opportunity arose.

I tested one TT tip that I read about. To bring your cadence up, increase your breathing rate. It works, but not on the extreme ends of the cadence spectrum. It didn't work well with an excessively big gear.

I ended up getting a 29:49. I don't know how to take it. I haven't had a near optimal day on a long TT to really see where I am. I'll probably put the regular crank arms back on and then go pick up another TT. The weather will probably be favorable and then I won't know what the real benefit is.

In the mean time I must go back to my 3-4 minute intervals that just about make life miserable and work on my focus techniques.
